LOOKING FOR STOCKING FILLERS....?

British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA)

Kate’s Equestrian Supplies became a member of the British Equestrian Trade Association in March 2021. It is something I am very proud of as the business had to meet exacting standards and three referees from within the trade were required to vouch that my business is credible and in suitable premises. My application was then put forward to the BETA Council for approval.

Being a member of BETA provides me with extensive support within the industry and enables me to further my knowledge with the many training courses and qualifications that are available. This, in turn, benefits my customers as it allows me to offer a greater range of products and services. As a start, I have taken courses which qualify me to supply and fit riding hats and body protectors.

As a BETA member I am permitted to display the BETA Retail Member logo on my website, in my premises and on any advertising or stationary. The logo is designed to give customers confidence that they are shopping with a BETA approved retailer. The BETA logo is widely recognised by consumers and the trade as the symbol of a legitimate and trustworthy business. The BETA symbol is associated with products of high standard and with companies which comply with the strict BETA codes of practice.

About BETA

Mission Statement: "The British Equestrian Trade Association works to support our members in their efforts to achieve the highest level of repute, knowledge and profitability"

BETA was formed in 1979 and has grown to be recognised and accepted as the official representative body for the equestrian manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade by Government and leading riding organisations.

BETA currently has over 800 member companies, covering a wide range of businesses including not only retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers, but also agents, dealers and many service based businesses. All members are involved in some way with equestrianism.

BETA is committed to the promotion of BETA members to the riding public, to on-going market research to inform both their members and the wider equestrian industry on the state of the market and horse riding as a leisure activity.

Some of BETA’s main achievements over the past 30 years include:

  • Changes to the Medicines’ Act to allow retail members to sell wormers for horses.
  • The development of BETA International as a world respected Trade Exhibition.
  • The National Equestrian Survey.
  • Development of training courses to enable retailers to become more knowledgeable and professional.
  • BETA body protector standard.

BETA also represent the trade on a number of bodies including:

  • European Body Protector Committee.
  • British Equestrian Federation.
  • British Horse Industry Confederation.
  • Horse & Pony Taxation Committee.
  • BHS All Party Parliamentary Group for the Horse.
